The garbage cans and recycle tubs along our street are spilling over like root beer floats after you've used too much ice cream.

On the surface, the annual ritual is about crudding out after a winter of hibernation. But I think it's far more than that. It defines who we are, what we value and how we've changed - all based on the philosophical question that humankind has wrestled with for centuries: Keep or throw?
