Like West Hills, North Hills and Valley Glen, South Central Los Angeles wants to join the growing list of communities that hope image and property values will improve with a name change.
The Los Angeles City Council is scheduled to vote today to drop the designation of South Central for the 16-square-mile section of the city.
It's new name: South Los Angeles.
``A bad name can destroy a person and that's what has been done to this part of Los Angeles,'' said Helen Johnson, the retired beautician who mobilized her neighbors and City Hall to support the name change. ``I would think everyone would want to ...
