IF only politicians were as sensible at working together as car companies, the world would be a much better place.
Take the example of the new Toyota Avensis, for instance.
It looks and feels German, but it was designed in France. Its engines are made in the UK and it is also manufactured and assembled here at the firm's plant in Burnaston near Derby.
The company is, of course, Japanese and the car will be exported and sold all over mainland Europe and in Japan itself.
