At the Congressional City Conference, NLC President Mayor John DeStefano Jr., mayor of New Haven, Conn., commissioned ten local elected officials and two state league directors as "Early Childhood Champions." Selected for their commitment to young children and their families, champions will promote early childhood success as a key issue for municipal leaders over the coming year.
Profiles of these champions' efforts and accomplishments demonstrate the diverse ways that local officials and state league directors can ensure that the next generation gets off to a successful start in life.
