WE in the San Fernando Valley can sympathize with the residents of the community formerly known as South Central Los Angeles, but now calling itself South Los Angeles.
Plenty of Valley communities have tried the same trick, hoping that a new name would eliminate old problems. Thus North Hills, Lake Balboa and Valley Glen emerged from other communities.
But after all the street signs and maps have been changed, the same old difficulties still linger.
