KANSAS CITY, Mo. _ Rob Dibble believes. Why not? He has seen this happen before. He remembers when nobody _ and he means nobody _ believed in his Cincinnati Reds. "We stunk," he says. "Why would anybody believe in us?"

Funny thing is, that team won its first nine games in 1990. The Reds just kept winning and winning and winning, and everybody said it didn't mean anything. But the guys on the team didn't care.

They won the World Series that year.

"There is nothing better for winning," he says, "than the anger and venom you feel inside when nobody respects you."
