Oct. 26--Existing-home sales for September in Palm Beach County and the Treasure Coast soared on the winds of hurricanes past, a Florida Association of Realtors report released Tuesday shows.
The dramatic year-over-year sales increases, experienced in nearly every region of the state, reflect the fact that real estate transactions throughout most of Florida came to a halt last year after Hurricanes Charley, Frances, Jeanne and Ivan pummeled the state in August and September.
As a result, this year's impressive sales increases don't reflect the true state of the market, said Frank Kowalski, president of the Florida Association of Realtors.
