PHILADELPHIA _ Strath Haven High School in Delaware County, Pa., scores well on tests, boasts a championship football team and this year was named by the U.S. Department of Education as a "Blue Ribbon School of Excellence." That means it does just about everything else pretty well, too.

But officials in this suburban community want to be sure that they do far better than average in another area: helping students grow up to be genuinely happy people.
