Coherentism
Coherentism represents one of the most popular alternatives to foundationalism as a theory of belief justification. The easiest way to introduce the difference between them is to note their response to the problem of epistemic regress. Proponents of both sides agree that some beliefs are inferentially derived from or justified by their relation to other beliefs, which in turn are justified in relation to still other beliefs, and so on.
