SHOREWOOD -- At first glance, Shorewood is a growing community of families, homes, parks, streets and shops.
It's becoming more and more urbanized every day, but it didn't used to be that way.
And the village and Troy Township are both trying to share that past with residents.
The village is currently investigating ways to recognize farmers, and their land, from days gone by.
The idea is to erect signs in Shorewood parks that tell visitors who used to farm that land and when.
"There has never been a good way for us to have a sense of history in our community," said Nancy Roman, the village economic development coordinator, who is behind the sign initiative.
