CHANNAHON -- The Copart Corp. has withdrawn its proposal to build an auto auction salvage yard along U.S. 6 in Channahon, citing location as the determining factor and not public opposition. Copart has decided against developing the 68-acre site across from Aux Sable Liquid Products, saying it was too far from Chicago to draw enough interest from its suppliers.

"It was just too far away from Chicago," said Wayne Hilty, Copart's chief financial officer.

"We needed commitments from our suppliers and we just didn't have that commitment in the area."

Copart is a car salvage yard that sells used and damaged vehicles by auction.
