Article: HINSDALE MAN GETS 7 YEARS IN RECKLESS HOMICIDE CASE

JOLIET -- A Hinsdale man convicted of reckless homicide in the death of a Chicago man on Interstate 55 south of Illinois 53 last September was sentenced to seven years in prison Tuesday. Ronald C. MacKenzie, 41, of 9 S. 412 Frontage Road, pleaded guilty in July to a reckless homicide charge in connection with a Sept. 30, 1999, accident that claimed the life of Andrew Kolasinski.

Kolasinski, 45, of Chicago, had stopped on the shoulder of Interstate 55 to check a map when a van that had been weaving through traffic suddenly slammed into the back of his car.

The force of the impact spun Kolasinski's Mazda around and flipped it over, trapping the driver inside as the car burst into flames.
