La Leche League forms in county Dateline -- Melba Groves is one of the co-leaders of the newly organized Grundy chapter of La Leche League. La Leche is the Spanish word that means "the milk."

The group's purpose is to help support nursing mothers and women who would like to breastfeed their infants.

The group started its monthly meetings in January and will continue the first Tuesday afternoon of each month.

Groves said the group formed in order to reach out to Grundy County women. She noted that there had not been a Grundy County group for quite a long time and also said that the group was open not just to those from Minooka but any of the communities served by Morris Hospital.
