LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- Freshman second baseman Jeff Johnson tied a Lewis University baseball record for hits with six Sunday to pace the Flyers to a 25-16 second-game victory over Bellarmine in a Great Lakes Valley Conference crossover doubleheader.
Bellarmine, helped by five Lewis errors, won the opener 18-3.
Johnson hit home runs, his fourth and fifth of the season, in each game. Johnson and Chris Wyllie, one of five players to slug homers in Game 2, each had two hits in the loss.
Johnson was 8-for-10 on the day.
His six hits in Game 2 tied the record held by three others, including Brian Gibbons last season.
Johnson is hitting .500.
