You can sum up the key to Matthew Lesko's success with a single fact: The federal government has an expert in barbecue utensils. "The average person thinks government is the IRS, the Department of Motor Vehicles, and welfare," says Lesko.

"But they don't know about the barbecue utensil guy, sitting there just dying to talk to you.

And to me, 99 percent of the government is barbecue utensil guys."

Lesko, by the way, is dressed in a black suit covered in yellow, peach and magenta question marks.
