Article: ALL WIN WITH A BALANCED BUDGET

In 1969 Neil Armstrong walked on the moon, the Brady Bunch was on TV, and the United States had a balanced budget. But in the following decades, Washington fueled out-of-control spending, encouraged skyrocketing deficits and endlessly increased taxes.

When the Republican majority was elected in 1994, the American people were taking us up on our promise to reign in a government that spent more than it took in.

A couple of weeks ago, Congress fulfilled that promise when it reached the historic bipartisan balanced budget agreement with the White House.

Many have asked what this historic agreement will mean to the people of the 11th District of Illinois.
