JOLIET -- A Bolingbrook man convicted of killing his 3-year-old daughter by slashing her throat was sentenced Thursday to spend the rest of his life in prison.
John E. Blank, 32, was given a mandatory natural life sentence without the possibility of parole by Judge Stephen White.
Blank murdered his daughter, Cari, last July.
Blank sat expressionless with a bowed head throughout the short sentencing hearing, during which no witnesses were called.
When asked by White if he had anything to say before a punishment was issued, Blank declined the invitation.
Following a weeklong bench trial in May at which Blank's attorneys used an insanity defense, White found him guilty but mentally ill.
