WE SAY: A CEREMONY THIS MORNING IN DOWNTOWN JOLIET WILL BE A FOCAL POINT OF VETERANS DAY, 1997. CEREMONIES WILL ALSO BE HELD IN MORRIS AT THE GRUNDY COUNTY COURTHOUSE.

The people of this great nation bow their heads today in solemn remembrance of the price paid to obtain and maintain freedom in the United States of America.
Today is Veterans Day.
We pause in our busy lifestyles to reflect on the contributions made by the men and women who have served in the Armed Forces.
It is those people -- our nation's veterans -- who are being honored today.
Our military is still serving the cause of peace in this nation and many foreign lands.
We look back over the decades and recognize the sacrifice paid to have peace today.
Veterans from Desert Storm, Vietnam, Korea, World War II and other recent confrontations are still alive to receive our heartfelt thanks.
