Article: NEW MILK LABELING STANDARDS ON THE WAY

New labeling regulations for fat-reduced milk will take effect this summer. Two percent milk will be called "reduced-fat." One percent will be "low-fat" or "light" and skim milk will be called "fat-free." The new names are intended to make clearer the amount of fat in milk.

The old 2 percent referred to 2 percent fat by weight.

It actually has 5 grams of fat per cup, which doesn't qualify as a low-fat product.
