Q: I'm 58 and overweight.
Two months ago, I began having seizures at night. My wife says that I snore and thrash around.
On one occasion, I soiled the bed.
My doctor put me on Dilantin, but he didn't do any testing.
A: He didn't what?
I believe that your doctor has made an unacceptable error in judgment. Seizures are always serious and must be investigated with head X-rays, brain-wave tests and other examinations.
Your seizures could be caused by an infection, a stroke or a brain tumor -- all of which are treatable.
However, I'd go even further, because I'm intrigued by two aspects of your story: You're too heavy and, most important, your seizures occur only at night.
