Article: MEMORIAL DAY IS ONE DAY WE ALL SHOULD OBSERVE

As a student I know that Memorial Day is a day in May which I get off and that is really all I care about. But last year I got to take a course called American History; it was instructed by Colin Hopper and was probably one of the most informative and interesting classes I have ever taken.

This is what I got out of that class and this is what I feel every person shuld know about this special day:

Memorial Day was originally called Decoration Day. It was legalized on May 30, 1868, to get people to decorate graves of the American Civil War soldiers.

Now Memorial Day is celebrated on the last Monday of May (schools get this day off) and it is "in honor of the nation's armed services ...
