HOMER TOWNSHIP -- A Lockport dentist under investigation for failing to dispose of animal remains will not be charged with a crime, authorities said Monday, after he removed the carcasses from his property.
Will County Assistant State's Attorney Charlene Copeland told Dr. Richard Stamm last month that he had 30 days to bury the 110 animal carcasses that were found on his 10-acre farm at 2509 Farrell Road. The carcasses were left unburied for almost a decade.
If he failed to do so, Stamm would have faced a Class C misdemeanor, punishable by fines of up to $1,500.
Since Stamm disposed of the carcasses, no charges will be filed, Copeland said.
