Scott Seargeant wants to clear the air. The horticulturist is on a mission to educate gardeners and landscapers on the benefits of planting allergy free flowers, shrubs and trees.

Years ago, he started writing a book on the topic to boost his landscaping business.

But Seargeant didn't finish the book until the issue became personal.

His son, Kyle, now 10, almost died from an asthma attack.

Seargeant now attributes some of Kyle's allergies to the trees that surrounded him when he was a baby.

"When my son was born I lived in the middle of walnut trees," said Seargeant, who lives in California.

Walnut trees are particularly prolific pollen producers.
