Like an archaeologist probing for ancient treasures, M.J. Kamin often finds the newest kitchen trends buried beneath layers of vinyl and tile.
Dig deep in any older home and you'll find wood floors in the kitchen.
And yet kitchen designers will tell you wood floors are the latest thing.
Stainless steel appliances also are hot.
Yet, Kamin has a set of 30-year-old steel appliances she's just about to trade in.
