MANHATTAN -- A pit bull, shaking the life out of the neighbor's cat, was the last thing Marilyn Westover expected to see Thursday morning as she passed by her picture window. "I was completely horrified," Westover said.

"I had never seen anything like that.

It looked like a scene you would find in a National Geographic movie."

Westover said two pit bulls, belonging to a neighbor, were on the loose. One of the dogs had chased the cat up a tree, clenched it between his jaws, and shook the cat limp.

"I didn't know what to do," Westover said.

"I feared for my children and was afraid if I ran out, they would run out after me."

Her 7-year-old daughter witnessed the attack.
