JOLIET -- The housing march into Kendall County is about to resume.
Joliet is preparing to annex a square mile of farmland at Caton Farm and Ridge roads for a new school, subdivision and Greek church.
The three projects, which would be spread across four parcels, were supported Thursday by the Joliet Plan Commission.
The developments would push the Joliet boundary a mile farther than the Kendall Ridge subdivision, the current western edge of the city.
Joliet annexed the Kendall Ridge land in 1996 amid protests from Kendall County residents.
"We had months of no activity out there for a long time," said Jim Haller, director of community and economic development for the city.
