Allergy sufferers hoping for a fall frost to end their pain have been out of luck this year. Sneezin' season is lingering as the temperatures remain warm and mold spores lurk in piles of leaves.

"People get fooled because they think one frost will do it," said Dr. Julie Hutson, an allergist with Oak Brook Allergists in Lockport.

"But we need several heavy, hard frosts to kill the mold.

The kind you have to chisel your windows with an ice scraper."

As a result of the feeble frosts we've had, allergies that normally would have cleared up by now are still bothering patients.
