GENEVA -- Jerry Auchstetter has been nominated for Geneva High School's initial Athletic Hall of Fame. Auchstetter will be inducted with six others on Feb. 2 in Geneva's Mack Olson Gym. The ceremony will take place at halftime of the Geneva-Fenton boys basketball game.

Also being inducted are Jennifer Birkner, Geneva's Burgess family, Mel Johnson, Carl Nelson, Al Stark and R. Haskell Tyson Jr.

Auchstetter coached Geneva's football team from 1967-85 and again from 1992-93 and compiled an outstanding 153-43-1 record.

Under Auchstetter, Geneva won nine Little Seven Conference championships and qualified for the IHSA playoffs five times, finishing second in 1975. From 1968-1970, Auchstetter's ...
