Article: `CAST AWAY'S' PRETTY GOOD AND I HATE TOM HANKS

I think I'll just get this out of the way off the bat: I hate Tom Hanks. I hated him in Forrest Gump, A League of Their Own, Sleepless in Seattle, You've Got Mail and Apollo 13.

I thought he was all right in Saving Private Ryan. OK, now considering all this, the following statement is going to mean more than what it seems at face value.

Tom Hanks is not cringe-inducing throughout Cast Away -- only in parts of it.

Considering the accolades Hanks and the film itself have won so far this winter awards season, it's safe to say that Cast Away is over-rated.

Robert Zemeckis and Hanks last worked together on Forrest Gump, another greatly over-rated film and performance by its lead actor.
