Doug Creel can't claim the most talented team in the state, but the Mount Vernon coach has gladly scooped up every bit of gusto that his Rams have been providing.
"We may not look like a 25-4 team, but our kids have done a good job and they've refused to lose," Creel said.
"We've gotten better as the year's gone on."
That's what makes West Aurora's matchup with Mt. Vernon so intriguing.
These two teams, which have won a combined 29 straight games, will tangle in Peoria at Carver Arena on Friday (1:45 p.m. tipoff) in the state's second quarterfinal contest.
