Article: FERMILAB CHANGES MIND, SAYS NO TO ROAD EXTENSION | SCIENCE CONSIDERATION: LAB OFFICIALS SAY THE EOLA ROAD PROJECT COULD HURT FUTURE

BATAVIA -- DuPage County will continue with an $850,000 environmental study of a north-south extension of Eola Road through the eastern edge of the Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory, even though laboratory officials said they now are against it. DuPage County Board Chairman Robert Schillerstrom made that clear this week, even though Fermilab's opposition should, in effect, kill any chance for building the road through the eastern edge of the lab.

Fermilab once pledged cooperation with DuPage County on the Eola Road extension along the eastern edge, at least to study it, laboratory officials said.
