LAUNDRY, UNION CLASH OVER DOCUMENTAION FOR EMPLOYEES | COMPANY CALLS TIMING OF CRACKDOWN ON ILLEGAL WORKERS DURING NEGOTIATIONS A COINCIDENCE

AURORA -- Workers continued to picket the Aurora Laundry and Dry Cleaning Company Tuesday, after background checks of immigrant workers sparked a strike late last week. While industrial laundry machines hummed inside the River Street building, more than 30 employees and union organizers picketed outside, demanding better wages, insurance benefits and an end to what they say is company harassment over their legal right to work.

What they call harassment began two weeks ago when the company told 47 employees they needed better legal documentation of their right to work by Friday, Nov. 26.
