A recent appellate court victory for Lake County, involving a proposed 266-acre development near Mundelein, may have further value as a precedent-setting land-use ruling.
In December, the 2nd District Appellate Court upheld a County Board denial of a zoning change that could have led to construction of 662 dwelling units on property west of Route 60/83 and north of Hawley Street in Fremont Township near Mundelein.
On Friday, the same court approved a motion by Lake County to publish the court's decision, which means it could have value as precedent, according to Jim Carr, chief of the state's attorney's Civil Trial Division.
