The 1997 Jet Sports Tour invades the area on Friday, Saturday and Sunday for three days of competition at Illinois Beach State Park in Zion. This is the ninth event on the 11-race tour and marks the ninth visit to Illinois Beach State Park for the popular personal-watercraft racing series.

The race will attract more than 200 competitors from around the world, competing for $750,000 in prize money, contingencies and awards.

The three-day event features 12 classes of competition with expert racing on Saturday and professional racing on Sunday.

This year, a novice class has been added so that basically anyone owning a jet-ski can participate on Friday.
