Wauconda Township The world's largest collection of postcards, spanning a century of Americana, is going to move from a small corner of the Lake County Museum to a larger gallery occupying one-third of the building. When the new public quarters of the Curt Teich collection open in spring 1999, visitors will enter through a cavern that is completely covered, from floor to ceiling, with postcard images.

Plans call for the focal point to be a gigantic image from a postcard of the Eiffel Tower.

The current public showcase is within a small circle of glass blocks -- cute, but not dramatic.

"Casual visitors think it's nice, but aren't particularly impressed.

And they certainly don't come away ...
