In a modest Highland Park strip mall, above CD City and Love's Yogurt and Salads, the Apple Tree Theater makes itself at home.
Walk inside and it soon becomes obvious that, despite being dressed in North Shore casual wear, this is one of the little giants of Chicago theater.
The box office walls are dominated by a decade's worth of Joseph Jefferson Award nominations, 69 certificates in all, dating back to the 1987-88 season and a breakthrough production of Sweeney Todd.
And then there are the latest additions to this wall of fame.
