Article: TOWARD BETTER HEALTH CARE

The late Joseph Cardinal Bernardin wrote in his 1995 pastoral letter: "Health care is an essential safeguard of human life and dignity, and there is an obligation for society to ensure that every person is able to realize this right. We've waited too long for this to happen."

Even though I do not believe HMOs are the answer, since traditionally HMO has meant, "less care," I do support House Bill 626, "the Consumer Bill of Rights," at the state level.

Funding needs to be set aside for the enforcement of HB 626 or it may turn out to be nothing but blarney.

Words without action mean nothing.

Dr. Quentin Young has launched a campaign at the state level for a universal health care plan.
