NORTH CHICAGO -- The board of directors of Abbott Laboratories has elected three new executive vice presidents and slated them for election to the board of directors at the annual shareholders meeting on April 24. The three new executive vice presidents are Paul N. Clark, 51; Robert L. Parkinson Jr., 47; and Miles White, 42. They will assume their positions March 1.

The promotions are part of the board's succession process and follow the announcement of the planned retirements of Thomas R. Hodgson, president and chief operating officer, at the end of 1998, and of Duane L. Burnham, chairman and chief executive officer, at the end of 1999.
