Article: RENOVATED HOLIDAY INN KICKS OFF NEW ERA

Champagne flowed Thursday night at the Gurnee Holiday Inn as it celebrated its "New Beginnings." The 224-room hotel, which opened 30 years ago amid cornfields off Grand Avenue, has just completed an ambitious $4.5-million renovation that transformed the place into something new and exciting.

Last night it was time to show the new look to invited guests, which included local dignitaries.

They also sampled food from the refurbished kitchen.

"The hotel is 30 years old.

We want it to remain the best full-service hotel around," said general manager Howard Silverstein.

On the outside, the hotel sports a new covered entrance with a tower that gives it a certain style and class.
