Article: SMALLMOUTH BASS ARE THRIVING IN ILLINOIS WATERS

Last week, I wrote about the growing smallmouth-bass fishery that exists along the Illinois shoreline of Lake Michigan. What many inland fishermen already know is that the state of Illinois is also developing a smallmouth-bass fishery in its inland rivers and streams.

Illinois is not blessed with a myriad of inlands lakes and streams like states such as Minnesota and Wisconsin.

As a result, Illinois has never had the reputation of being a fisherman's paradise.

However, this situation may be changing.

Our state does have a few large rivers and a number of small streams and some of these have always had smallmouth bass.
