Lloyd Ray Davis, the most controversial clergyman in Lake County since Zion's Alexander Dowie, died Monday as a convict in Graham Correctional Center near Hillsboro, Ill. He ran his international Waukegan-based Christian Fellowship Church from prison.
Services for Davis are set for 11 a.m. Saturday at the Waukegan church.
A wake will be held Friday night.
Davis, 63, was beloved by hundreds of his followers and had prominent supporters outside the church.
He was reviled by former church members who called Christian Fellowship a cult-like organization and by prosecutors who said Davis was an unrepentant sex offender.
