Article: EDWARD'S HEART HOSPITAL FACES UPHILL BATTLE

The Illinois Department of Public Health has raised significant concerns about Edward Hospital's proposal to create a heart hospital on its Naperville campus. The department this week released a staff report that bolsters the arguments of hospitals in Aurora, Joliet and other towns that Edward's proposed for-profit heart hospital is not needed.

The advisory report has been submitted to the Illinois Health Facilities Planning Board, an independent state health care regulatory agency that will consider Edward's application next week.

The heart hospital cannot be built without approval from the 15-member board.
