But Naperville residents who call themselves close friends of the Lemak family haven't forgotten the deaths of Nicholas Morrissey, 7, Emily Grace, 6, and Thomas David, 3.
Since the Lemak tragedy one year ago, the group has met in homes, brainstorming for ways to show homage to three siblings who Chris and Karen Marposon say were known and loved by people throughout the Loomis Street neighborhood where they lived.
While searching for appropriate symbols, they occasionally have talked with the children's father, their friend David Lemak.
Just before Christmas, the friends went with 20 to 30 neighborhood children to the Lemak gravesites ...
