Article: BENEFIT CONCERT AT FIRST UNITED METHODIST CHURCH

First United Methodist Church in Glen Ellyn will hold a benefit concert on at 7 p.m. Saturday for Wiley College, the first historically black college west of the Mississippi River. Joyce Luckett said she hopes to make the concert an annual event.

A retired Wheaton North High School teacher and third generation Wiley graduate, Luckett spent two months at Wiley College last year and was inspired to use her talent as a singer to help the school.

"I saw that great things are happening at Wiley, but there is real financial need, too," Luckett said.

"I said, `God, if you give me the strength and ability, I will make this concert happen.'"
