Article: OSWEGOLAND PARK DISTRICT'S TAX RATE EXPECTED TO DECREASE

The Oswegoland Park District is proposing a 2001 property-tax levy of about $2.8 million, which is 7.2 percent higher than the previous levy of about $2.6 million. A public hearing regarding the levy is scheduled for 7 p.m. Dec. 14 at Prairie Point Center, at 313 E. Washington St. in Oswego.

A hearing is required by law for proposed increases greater than 5 percent.

The levy will be on display until the hearing at the district's offices at Prairie Point Center.

While the amount of total tax revenue to be collected by the district is projected to increase, the district's tax rate is expected to decrease because of new homes and the state's property-tax cap, district officials said.
