Article: FIRED PARK DISTRICT EMPLOYEE FILES LAWSUIT IN FEDERAL COURT

The Lisle Park District's legal woes aren't over: An employee the district fired in May is now suing for least $223,000 in damages. Sally Atwell, a Naperville resident and previous director of development for the district, filed a lawsuit in Chicago at the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois on Nov. 17.

Atwell's attorney, Steve Gustafson, said her case alleges Park District officials violated her civil rights during a summertime investigation into financial improprieties within the district.

Gustafson said on seven occasions Atwell was contacted by Park District officials and their attorneys, asking her to cooperate in their internal investigation.
