Mathew Rysdon spent the last week of his life surrounded by 19 family members on a dream vacation in the Bahamas.
Rysdon, 17, and his family, including father Jon, mother Kathy and sister Morgan, left their Naperville home Dec. 23 for Nassau to attend a family reunion trip, compliments of his grandfather.
Mat began to feel ill and tired on Dec. 30. He died the next day, New Year's Eve, the day the family was to return home.
While Mat's symptoms seem similar to those of viral meningitis, an inflammation of the meninges or membranes of the brain and spinal cord, family members said they have not officially confirmed that killed their son.
