The far west side of Bolingbrook will gets its own ZIP code come Tuesday, July 1. The new ZIP code will be 60490. It joins 60440 seven years after the village fought for and finally received its own ZIP code in 1990.
The new ZIP code is bounded by the centerline of Naperville Road on the east, by I-55 on the south, by the village's boundaries and the DuPage River on the north, and can stretch west as far as the village of Bolingbrook boundary lines, parcel by parcel, as new areas are annexed and developed.
Bolingbrook Village President Roger C. Claar said that he hopes the new ZIP code will not be too bothersome to the 6,000-some residents who already live within the new 60490 ZIP code.
