YULETIDE CELEBRATION Where: The Morton Arboretum, Route 53 (just north of I-88), Lisle When: 2:15 p.m. Dec. 27 Tickets: $7 parking fee. (630) 719-2465, weekdays 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., or (630) 719-2400. The coldest and darkest part of the year, where fire and light play an important role, has given us some long-lived traditions.

The centuries-old custom of bringing home the Yule Log hearkens back to the winter solstice and is still re-enacted in medieval pageantry, this year at 2:15 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 27, during the 19th annual Yuletide Celebration at Morton Arboretum in Lisle.

Those wishing to join the Yule Log Hunt should meet at the Visitor Center at 2 p.m. Participants should come ...
