More than two years have passed since Gerardo Quintanilla killed a woman after a bar brawl at Steven's Cafe in Aurora.
But the shooting continues to take a toll, family members of the victim and another person who was wounded testified at a sentencing hearing Monday in Kane County Circuit Court.
Quintanilla, 21, of Aurora was convicted in June of the murder of Vicki Ososky, 39, a mother of five.
He also was convicted in the attack of another patron at the former cafe on Ogden Avenue.
Quintanilla was an outstanding athlete, participating in baseball and wrestling as he grew up.
